I'm so excited about this second Team Member Highlight because Brie has been with Amelia's since our first season!! She is a true Flower Truck veteran and I have absolutely LOVED having her as a part of our team. Brie is so sweet and is an incredibly talented dancer. She has always been such a delight on the trucks and makes some of the most beautiful bouquets!
I asked Brie a few questions so that y'all could get to know her a little better. Enjoy!
1.
Did you have any floral experience before working for Amelia's?
Just working out in the garden with my mom as a little girl! One of my favorite things to do was go to our local nursery with my mom every spring to pick out new flowers for our garden!
2.
What's your favorite flower and why?
Gosh that’s a hard one! I think i’ll always love Lantana’s. That was the flower I always picked out with my mom, so they’re sentimental to me. I also really love Carnations, and working on the trucks I’ve discovered many people actually DON’T like carnations! #carnationcrew
3.
What do you enjoy most about working with flowers?
My favorite part of working with flowers is playing with all the different combinations of texture and color! I love seeing the arrangements you guys come up with on the truck too! You really can’t go wrong!
4.
What do you hope to be doing in 5 years?
Honestly in 5 years I'd just like to be married and a have a kid on the way! haha
5.
What's your Passion?
Dance is definitely my passion! I’ve been dancing since the age of 4 and danced competitively until I went to college. Now I teach dance full time!
6.
What do you love to do in your spare time?
In my spare time I love to read, and kayak. I also love trying new restaurants in Nashville!
7.
What were you doing before you worked at Amelia's?/ What are you doing now along with Amelia's?
Before I worked for Amelia’s I worked at a Dentist office full-time. I left the dentist office to pursue dance, and joined Amelia’s as a little daytime side hustle! The most enjoyable job ever!
8.
Any flower tips or tricks you've learned and want to share?
Put ice in your vases to keep your flowers fresher longer!
9.
Last trip you took and your favorite part about it
The last trip I took was to New York City with my sister! I got to see Bernadette Peters star in ‘Hello Dolly!’ and it was phenomenal! I also loved exploring Brooklyn! Check out HOMECOMING next time you’re there- it’s the cutest little coffee & flower shop!
10.
If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be?
How could I ever choose?! Probably Everybody Always by Bob Goff. But if you love flowers, I highly suggest The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh. It’s a beautiful novel that incorporates the Victorian meanings of each flower- red Roses for love, Eucalyptus for protection, Daisies for cheerfulness- so fascinating!
Be sure to say "Hi" to Brie next time you see her on the truck!!
